Overview

Der p 1 + Der p 2 + Der p 23 is a recombinant allergen immunotherapy (AIT) candidate developed by Diater Laboratorio. It consists of a standardized mixture of the three most potent major allergens from the house dust mite Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus: Der p 1 (a cysteine protease), Der p 2 (an NPC2 family protein), and Der p 23 (a peritrophin-like protein). Unlike traditional mite extracts, which are heterogeneous and may contain variable amounts of allergens and pro-inflammatory contaminants, this recombinant formulation allows for precise dosing and a consistent allergen profile. The therapy is intended for the treatment of house dust mite-induced allergic rhinitis, rhinoconjunctivitis, and allergic asthma. It works by inducing immunological tolerance, shifting the immune response from a Th2-dominated allergic profile to a Th1/Treg-mediated response, characterized by the production of allergen-specific IgG4 antibodies and the suppression of IgE-mediated hypersensitivity.
