Overview
The recombinant group B meningococcal vaccine (Escherichia coli) is an investigational recombinant protein subunit vaccine developed by Beijing Zhifei Lvzhu Biopharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Zhifei Biotech. Expressed in *Escherichia coli*, the vaccine is designed to prevent serogroup B meningococcal meningitis (caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup B) by inducing protective antibodies against serogroup B meningococcal antigens. Specifically, each dose contains recombinant factor H binding protein (fHBP) subfamily A (MenB-fHBP-A) and subfamily B (MenB-fHBP-B) antigens. As of early 2024, the vaccine is in a Phase I clinical trial in China evaluating its safety, tolerability, and preliminary immunogenicity in healthy subjects aged 3 months to 50 years.
