Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RECVAX (Hanxun Rui'an) is a recombinant hepatitis B vaccine developed and marketed by Sinovac (Beijing Kexing Bioproducts). It is produced using the *Hansenula polymorpha* yeast expression system to express the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). The vaccine is indicated for the active immunization against hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in healthy individuals, including infants, children, and adults. By presenting the HBsAg protein to the immune system, RECVAX stimulates the production of specific neutralizing antibodies (anti-HBs), providing long-term protection against HBV. It is typically administered via intramuscular injection in a three-dose regimen at 0, 1, and 6 months. The use of *Hansenula polymorpha* is noted for achieving high expression levels and stability of the HBsAg protein compared to other yeast expression systems.
