Overview
This drug is a combination therapy consisting of recombinant human thrombopoietin (rhTPO) and dexamethasone. Recombinant human thrombopoietin is a biologic agent that mimics endogenous thrombopoietin, stimulating the production of platelets by acting on the c-Mpl (thrombopoietin) receptor on megakaryocyte progenitor cells. Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties, commonly used to suppress immune-mediated platelet destruction in conditions like immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). The combination has been studied as frontline treatment for newly diagnosed ITP, where it has demonstrated improved initial response rates and sustained remission compared to dexamethasone monotherapy[1][3][8][10].
