Overview
Recombinant meningococcal group B vaccine is a protein-based vaccine candidate developed by Beijing Zhifei Lvzhu Biopharmaceutical for the prevention of invasive disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup B. Unlike serogroups A, C, W, and Y, which are targeted by polysaccharide conjugate vaccines, serogroup B's capsular polysaccharide is poorly immunogenic due to its structural similarity to human glycoproteins. This vaccine employs recombinant proteins expressed in *E. coli* to bypass this limitation and elicit a protective immune response. It is currently being evaluated in Phase I clinical trials (e.g., CTR20231293) to assess safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity across a broad age range from 3 months to 50 years.
