Recombinant Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Fusion Protein (D-EC) is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine candidate developed by Kangweizhonghe for the prevention or treatment of tuberculosis. The drug consists of a fusion protein incorporating the ESAT-6 (6 kDa early secretory antigenic target) and CFP-10 (10 kDa culture filtrate protein) antigens of *Mycobacterium tuberculosis*. These antigens are absent in the BCG vaccine strain and most non-tuberculous mycobacteria, making them highly specific targets for inducing a T-cell mediated immune response. The 'D-EC' construct is designed to elicit protective immunity or serve as an immunotherapeutic agent by stimulating the host's immune system to recognize and combat the pathogen. It is currently in Phase 2 clinical trials in China.
