Overview

A cancer vaccine consisting of a recombinant vaccinia virus vector encoding the tumor-associated antigen carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and a triad of costimulatory molecules—B7.1, ICAM‑1, and LFA‑3—collectively known as TRICOM. The vaccine is designed to stimulate the host immune system to mount a T-cell response against tumor cells expressing CEA. The inclusion of TRICOM enhances antitumor cytotoxic T lymphocyte responses compared to vaccines containing only CEA. It has been evaluated in clinical trials for patients with advanced solid tumors expressing CEA, demonstrating safety and immunogenicity with some evidence of clinical benefit[1][2][3][4][5].
