Overview

The designation "regorafenib + TAS-102-Medicago-H5N1 influenza" appears to be a concatenated name combining two unrelated therapeutic regimens: the oncology combination of regorafenib and TAS-102 (trifluridine/tipiracil) and the Medicago H5N1 influenza vaccine. Regorafenib is an oral multikinase inhibitor targeting angiogenic, stromal, and oncogenic receptor tyrosine kinases (VEGFR, PDGFR, FGFR, KIT, RET), while TAS-102 is a cytotoxic chemotherapy consisting of a nucleoside analog (trifluridine) and a thymidine phosphorylase inhibitor (tipiracil). Both are primarily used in the treatment of refractory metastatic colorectal cancer. The Medicago H5N1 vaccine was a virus-like particle (VLP) candidate produced in *Nicotiana benthamiana* plants expressing the hemagglutinin protein of the H5N1 avian influenza virus. It was evaluated in Phase 2 trials with adjuvants such as Alhydrogel or GLA-SE to enhance immunogenicity. Notably, Medicago ceased operations in 2023, and development of its vaccine pipeline was discontinued. There is no known clinical use or trial combining these three distinct components into a single therapeutic entity.
