Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination of remifentanil, a potent ultra short-acting synthetic opioid μ-receptor agonist, and magnesium sulfate, an NMDA receptor antagonist. This combination is used during general anesthesia to provide analgesia and controlled hypotension. Magnesium sulfate has been shown to reduce remifentanil consumption, improve postoperative analgesia, and decrease the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting compared to remifentanil alone.
