Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination therapy consisting of Renessans, interferon alpha 2b, and ribavirin. Interferon alpha 2b is a recombinant cytokine that exerts antiviral and immunomodulatory effects by binding to cell surface receptors and inducing the expression of genes that inhibit viral replication. Ribavirin is a nucleoside analog with broad-spectrum antiviral activity; it inhibits viral RNA synthesis and promotes lethal mutagenesis in viruses. Renessans is less well characterized in the literature but has been studied as an adjunctive agent in hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. The combination of interferon alpha 2b and ribavirin has been established as an effective treatment for chronic hepatitis C, leading to higher rates of sustained virologic response compared to monotherapy[1][6][8]. The addition of Renessans has been investigated in clinical trials for potential enhancement of efficacy[3].
