Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Resolvis is an ophthalmic lipid emulsion containing resolvin E1 (RvE1), a specialized pro-resolving mediator (SPM) derived from eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Developed by the Italian pharmaceutical company Medivis, it is primarily indicated for the treatment of dry eye disease (DED) and other inflammatory conditions of the ocular surface. Resolvin E1 acts as a potent agonist of the ChemR23 (ERV1) receptor and an antagonist of the BLT1 receptor, facilitating the active resolution of inflammation and promoting tissue repair. Unlike traditional anti-inflammatory agents that inhibit inflammatory pathways, Resolvis leverages endogenous pathways to restore ocular surface homeostasis. The product has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials to assess its efficacy in improving signs and symptoms of dry eye compared to saline solutions.
