Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Resomelagon + methotrexate is a combination therapy being developed for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Resomelagon (AP1189) is a novel, first-in-class, oral, biased melanocortin (MC1 and MC3) receptor agonist that induces inflammation resolution through multiple actions including reduction in pro-inflammatory cells and cytokines and increased macrophage efferocytosis. Methotrexate is a well-established disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD) that decreases pain and swelling of arthritis and can prevent damage to joints and long-term disability. The combination has shown potential efficacy in clinical trials for patients with high disease activity.
