Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RSVpreF3-AS01 (marketed as Arexvy) is a recombinant, adjuvanted protein subunit vaccine developed by GSK for the prevention of lower respiratory tract disease (LRTD) caused by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The vaccine consists of a recombinant RSV glycoprotein F stabilized in its pre-fusion conformation (RSVPreF3) combined with GSK's proprietary AS01E adjuvant system. The adjuvant system contains the TLR4 agonist 3-O-desacyl-4'-monophosphoryl lipid A (MPL) and the saponin QS-21 in a liposomal formulation to enhance the immune response. Arexvy is approved for active immunization in adults aged 60 years and older, as well as adults aged 18 to 59 years who are at an increased risk of severe RSV disease. It is also being evaluated in clinical trials for other high-risk populations, such as immunocompromised transplant recipients, and to assess its potential cardiovascular benefits.
