Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Resveratrol + copper (R-Cu) is an oral pro-oxidant nutraceutical combination developed by researchers at the Advanced Center for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) in Mumbai, India. The combination consists of 5.6 mg of resveratrol and 560 ng of copper, designed to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) through a Fenton-like reaction. This ROS generation specifically targets and deactivates extracellular cell-free chromatin particles (cfChPs) released from dying cells, which are implicated in systemic inflammation, chemotherapy toxicity, and cancer progression. R-Cu has been evaluated in clinical trials (RESCU series) for reducing chemotherapy-induced toxicities in multiple myeloma and gastric cancer, as well as for treating glioblastoma multiforme and severe COVID-19.
