Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rexlemestrocel-L + hyaluronic acid (MPC-06-ID) is an investigational cell-based combination therapy developed by **Mesoblast** for the treatment of chronic low back pain (CLBP) associated with moderate degenerative disc disease (DDD). The therapy consists of allogeneic (donor-derived) mesenchymal precursor cells (MPCs) delivered via a single intradiscal injection using a hyaluronic acid (HA) carrier, which serves as a scaffold. The MPCs are thought to function through paracrine signaling, secreting factors that reduce inflammation by inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF and IL-1, promoting the synthesis of proteoglycans and collagen to repair the disc matrix, and inhibiting nerve ingrowth to provide analgesia. The product has completed Phase 3 clinical evaluation.
