**rH5 + nanoemulsion adjuvant** is a recombinant protein-based blood-stage malaria vaccine candidate, composed of the *Plasmodium falciparum* reticulocyte-binding protein homolog 5 (RH5) and formulated with a nanoemulsion adjuvant. RH5 is an essential and highly conserved antigen involved in erythrocyte invasion by binding host basigin (CD147), making it a leading target in antimalarial vaccine research. The nanoemulsion adjuvant is utilized to robustly boost immunogenicity by promoting strong antibody and T-cell responses. The main mechanism is induction of antibodies capable of inhibiting malaria parasite growth in the blood-stage of infection. RH5-based vaccines are being developed to address the limitations of liver-stage malaria vaccines and improve protection against clinical and severe malaria, primarily in pediatric populations[1][2][4].
