This is a combination bone graft substitute composed of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein 2 (rhBMP-2), biomimetic calcium phosphate coating (BioCaP), and beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP). rhBMP-2 is a potent osteoinductive growth factor that stimulates the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into osteoblasts, promoting new bone formation. BioCaP serves as a biomimetic carrier matrix that enhances the delivery and sustained release of rhBMP-2 at the defect site. β-TCP acts as an osteoconductive scaffold, providing structural support for new bone in-growth and gradual resorption as natural bone regenerates. The combination has been shown in preclinical and clinical studies to significantly improve new bone formation compared to β-TCP alone or natural healing, with favorable safety profiles[1][4]. It is primarily investigated for use in critical-sized bone defects, nonunion fractures, spinal fusion surgery, maxillary sinus elevation, and other orthopedic or dental applications requiring enhanced osseous regeneration[1][3][4].
