Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rhenium (186Re) obisbemeda (brand name REYOBIQ, also known as 186RNL or by its clinical trial name ReSPECT) is a radiopharmaceutical developed by Plus Therapeutics (marketed under the Cerenome brand) for the treatment of central nervous system (CNS) malignancies. It consists of a nanoliposome carrier that encapsulates Rhenium-186, a radioisotope that emits both beta particles for localized tissue destruction and gamma rays for real-time imaging and dosimetry. The drug is administered locoregionally via convection-enhanced delivery (CED) for solid tumors like recurrent glioblastoma or via intraventricular injection for leptomeningeal metastases. This targeted approach allows for the delivery of radiation doses significantly higher than those achievable with external beam radiation while minimizing systemic exposure and toxicity.
