Overview

Rifampicin + isoniazid is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) oral tablet developed and marketed by Suzhou Amerigen Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of tuberculosis. This combination therapy integrates two essential first-line antitubercular agents into a single dosage form to reduce pill burden and improve patient compliance. Rifampicin is a semi-synthetic rifamycin derivative that exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, thereby preventing RNA synthesis. Isoniazid is a prodrug that, upon activation by the mycobacterial enzyme KatG, inhibits the enoyl-acyl carrier protein reductase (InhA), which is crucial for the synthesis of mycolic acids in the mycobacterial cell wall. The product is manufactured at Suzhou Amerigen's facility in China, which holds licenses from both the NMPA and the US FDA.
