rifampin + minocycline is an oral combination of two small-molecule antibiotics used primarily for the treatment of infections caused by resistant bacteria, notably methicillin-resistant *Staphylococcus aureus* (MRSA). Rifampin (also called rifampicin) is a rifamycin-class antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, leading to suppression of RNA synthesis. Minocycline is a tetracycline-class antibiotic that inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit. The combination is synergistic, with clinical and preclinical evidence supporting efficacy in complicated skin and soft tissue infections, tuberculosis, leprosy, and as a potential alternative in prosthetic joint and biofilm-associated infections. The use of this combination can reduce the risk of resistance development, especially important for rifampin. It is not a branded product but rather a regimen combining two generics[1][2][5][6].
