Ringer's lactate solution is an isotonic crystalloid fluid used primarily for fluid resuscitation in patients with hypovolemia or shock. In the context of a clinical trial conducted by Tanta University (NCT04441450), it was administered as the initial volume resuscitation (30 ml/kg) to patients with sepsis-induced hypotension. The study evaluated the impact of early versus late norepinephrine administration following this crystalloid bolus on achieving target mean arterial pressure (MAP). Ringer's lactate is designed to be physiologically similar to blood plasma, containing sodium chloride, potassium chloride, calcium chloride, and sodium lactate in water. The lactate component acts as a buffering agent against metabolic acidosis, a common complication in septic shock.
