RMP-7 + carboplatin is a combination therapy investigated primarily for the treatment of malignant gliomas and other brain tumors. RMP-7 (Cereport) is a synthetic nine-amino acid peptide that acts as a selective bradykinin B2 receptor agonist. Its main function is to transiently increase the permeability of the blood-brain tumor barrier, thereby enhancing the delivery of chemotherapeutic agents such as carboplatin into brain tumors[1][2][6]. Carboplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapy drug that exerts its antineoplastic effects by forming DNA crosslinks, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing tumor cells. The combination aims to improve therapeutic efficacy by increasing local concentrations of carboplatin within CNS tumors while minimizing systemic toxicity[1][2][10]. Clinical studies have shown that this regimen is generally well tolerated with side effects consistent with those expected from each agent alone; however, efficacy improvements over standard therapy have not been conclusively demonstrated in phase II trials[2].
