Overview
Romiplostim + dexamethasone is a combination therapy under investigation for the first-line treatment of newly diagnosed primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). Romiplostim is a peptibody that acts as a thrombopoietin receptor agonist, stimulating platelet production by binding to and activating the TPO receptor (cMpl) on megakaryocyte precursors. Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties, commonly used to suppress immune-mediated platelet destruction in ITP. The combination aims to improve sustained response rates and reduce bleeding risk compared to corticosteroid monotherapy[1][2][3][4][5].
