Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination of ropivacaine, a local anesthetic, and clonidine, an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist. This combination is used for regional anesthesia and pain management. Ropivacaine blocks sodium channels to prevent nerve impulse generation and conduction, while clonidine potentiates the analgesic effects through a non-opioid mechanism. The combination provides enhanced and prolonged analgesia compared to ropivacaine alone, with reduced need for rescue opioid medication.
