Overview

A combination of ropivacaine, an amide-type local anesthetic, and ketamine, an NMDA receptor antagonist. This combination is used for regional anesthesia and pain management, particularly in nerve blocks. Ropivacaine blocks sodium channels to prevent nerve impulse generation and conduction, while ketamine provides additional analgesia through NMDA receptor antagonism. The combination has shown enhanced analgesic efficacy and prolonged duration of action in certain applications compared to either agent alone.
