Overview
Rose geranium in sesame oil is a topical botanical formulation administered as a nasal spray, primarily investigated for the treatment of nasal vestibulitis and epistaxis. Nasal vestibulitis is a common side effect of cancer therapies, particularly taxane-based chemotherapy, characterized by nasal dryness, bleeding, and sores. The formulation consists of rose geranium oil (derived from the *Pelargonium graveolens* plant) in a sesame oil base. Clinical studies, including a Phase III trial conducted by the Mayo Clinic, have demonstrated its efficacy in improving nasal symptoms and reducing the severity of nosebleeds in patients with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT). The product acts as an emollient and protective barrier for the nasal mucosa.
