Rosuvastatin + dapagliflozin is a combination of two small molecule drugs used primarily for their respective effects on lipid and glucose metabolism. Rosuvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that lowers cholesterol by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for cholesterol biosynthesis, leading to reduced LDL-C and triglycerides, and increased HDL-C. Dapagliflozin is a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor that reduces blood glucose by promoting urinary glucose excretion. Preclinical studies suggest this combination may have synergistic cardioprotective effects, particularly in reducing myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury via activation of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway[1][6]. Both agents are approved individually for cardiovascular risk reduction in patients with type 2 diabetes or dyslipidemia; however, the fixed-dose combination is not currently marketed as a single product.
