Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rosuvastatin + LX4211 is a combination of two small molecule drugs with distinct mechanisms of action. Rosuvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) used to lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events by inhibiting cholesterol biosynthesis in the liver, leading to decreased LDL and triglycerides and increased HDL levels. LX4211 is a dual inhibitor of sodium-glucose cotransporters 1 and 2 (SGLT1/SGLT2), developed for glycemic control in diabetes; it lowers blood glucose by reducing renal glucose reabsorption (via SGLT2 inhibition) and delaying intestinal glucose absorption (via SGLT1 inhibition). The combination could theoretically address both dyslipidemia and hyperglycemia, though there are no approved fixed-dose combinations or clinical evidence supporting their combined use as a single product.
