Overview
RotaTeq + Hexaxim refers to the co-administration of two distinct pediatric vaccines: RotaTeq and Hexaxim (also marketed as Hexyon or Hexacima). RotaTeq is a live, oral, pentavalent vaccine developed by Merck & Co., containing five human-bovine reassortant rotaviruses (G1, G2, G3, G4, and P1A[8]) to prevent rotavirus gastroenteritis. Hexaxim is a fully liquid hexavalent vaccine developed by Sanofi Pasteur, providing protection against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (acellular), hepatitis B (recombinant), poliomyelitis (inactivated), and invasive diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). This combination is used in primary and booster vaccination schedules for infants to provide broad protection against multiple viral and bacterial pathogens.
