Overview
This entry refers to the concept of co-administering two separate vaccines, RotaTeq and an INFANRIX-branded vaccine (commonly Infanrix hexa), during the same visit as part of a routine childhood vaccination schedule. RotaTeq is an oral pentavalent rotavirus vaccine developed by Merck that helps prevent rotavirus gastroenteritis in infants and children. It contains five live rotavirus strains and is administered orally in a 3-dose series. INFANRIX (or Infanrix hexa) is a hexavalent vaccine manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline Vaccines containing antigens for diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, poliomyelitis, and Haemophilus influenzae type b. Administering these two vaccines together provides protection against multiple childhood diseases in a coordinated vaccination schedule. **Note:** RotaTeq and INFANRIX are separate vaccines and are not formulated or administered as a single combined product.
