Rotavirus vaccine (Institut Pasteur Dakar)

The Rotavirus vaccine (Institut Pasteur Dakar) is a vaccine candidate being developed by the Institut Pasteur de Dakar (IPD) for the prevention of rotavirus gastroenteritis. This program is a key component of the MADIBA (Manufacturing in Africa for Disease Immunization and Building Autonomy) initiative, which involves the construction of a major vaccine manufacturing hub in Diamniadio, Senegal. The vaccine is designed to elicit protective immunity against rotavirus, the leading cause of severe, dehydrating diarrhea in infants and young children worldwide. As of current strategic planning, the project is in the preclinical stage and is part of the facility's long-term vision to expand regional vaccine production capacity in Africa.
