Roxithromycin + ambroxol is a fixed-dose combination therapy developed by Jiangsu Yabang Aipusheng Pharmaceutical for the treatment of respiratory tract infections. It combines roxithromycin, a semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic, with ambroxol hydrochloride, a mucolytic agent. Roxithromycin exerts its antibacterial activity by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, thereby inhibiting RNA-dependent protein synthesis. Ambroxol acts as a secretolytic agent, reducing the viscosity of respiratory secretions and enhancing mucociliary clearance by stimulating surfactant production and potentially inhibiting voltage-gated sodium channels. This combination is specifically indicated for respiratory infections accompanied by abnormal mucus secretion and impaired transport, such as acute and chronic bronchitis or pneumonia. It is formulated as a dispersible tablet to facilitate rapid disintegration and ease of administration.
