Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RSV oral vaccine (PlantPharm BioMed) is a plant-based vaccine candidate currently in preclinical development for the prevention of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) infection. Developed using PlantPharm BioMed's proprietary platform, the vaccine involves expressing RSV-specific antigens within plant tissues, which are then processed into an oral solid dose formulation. This technology is designed to leverage the plant cell wall to protect the antigens through the stomach, allowing for delivery to the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) to stimulate both mucosal and systemic immunity. This oral delivery method aims to provide a more convenient, stable, and potentially more effective alternative to traditional injectable vaccines for RSV.
