Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a prophylactic vaccine candidate for Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) being developed by Vaxxas in collaboration with SK bioscience. It utilizes Vaxxas' proprietary high-density microarray patch (HD-MAP) technology for needle-free, transdermal delivery. The vaccine features the DS2 antigen, a next-generation RSV antigen licensed from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), which is designed to provide a more robust and durable immune response compared to the DS-Cav1 antigen used in earlier vaccines. The HD-MAP system consists of thousands of microscopic projections that deliver a dried vaccine formulation directly to the immune-cell-rich layers of the skin, potentially eliminating the need for cold-chain storage and allowing for easier administration.
