RVK strain 100 (UV-inactivated)

RVK strain 100 (UV-inactivated) is an experimental, non-pathogenic rotavirus-based therapeutic candidate derived from a new, non-classified group of the *Reoviridae* family. Developed by researchers at the Rostov Research Institute of Microbiology and Parasitology, this specific variant is inactivated by ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Unlike the live attenuated version of the strain, which exhibits oncolytic properties, the UV-inactivated strain 100 appears to function primarily through an immunostimulatory mechanism. Preclinical studies in mouse models of B16/F10 melanoma have demonstrated that prophylactic administration (vaccination regimen) can significantly slow tumor growth and improve survival, whereas therapeutic administration after tumor onset is less effective.
