s-amlodipine + valsartan

Lodivixx is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) antihypertensive medication developed by Hanlim Pharm. It contains S-amlodipine, the chirally pure and pharmacologically active S-enantiomer of the calcium channel blocker amlodipine, and valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). S-amlodipine works by inhibiting the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells, leading to peripheral vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Valsartan complements this by selectively blocking the AT1 receptor, thereby inhibiting the vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II. The use of S-amlodipine is intended to provide the therapeutic benefits of racemic amlodipine while potentially reducing dose-dependent side effects like peripheral edema. Lodivixx is primarily indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension and is marketed in South Korea.
