This co-administration regimen involves the simultaneous delivery of two separate vaccines developed by China National Biotec Group Company Limited (CNBG): a Sabin-strain-based inactivated poliovirus vaccine (sIPV) and a diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis (DTaP) vaccine. The sIPV component provides protection against poliovirus types I, II, and III using inactivated Sabin strains, which offers a safer alternative to live-attenuated vaccines while maintaining high immunogenicity. The DTaP component is a combination vaccine containing diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, and acellular pertussis antigens to prevent whooping cough, diphtheria, and tetanus. Clinical studies, including Phase 4 trials, have demonstrated that the simultaneous administration of these two vaccines in infants is safe and produces a non-inferior immune response compared to separate administration, facilitating the integration of sIPV into the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) in China.
