Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sacubitril + valsartan (Dr. Reddy's Laboratories) is a generic fixed-dose combination of sacubitril, a neprilysin inhibitor, and valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). This combination belongs to the class of angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitors (ARNI). Sacubitril works by inhibiting neprilysin, an enzyme that degrades natriuretic peptides, thereby increasing their levels and promoting vasodilation and natriuresis. Valsartan blocks the AT1 receptor, counteracting the vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II. This dual mechanism is primarily used for the treatment of chronic heart failure to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization. Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (Thailand) Limited has conducted bioequivalence studies to compare this formulation with the reference drug, Entresto.
