Overview
ALC-2217 is a generic small molecule combination drug developed by Korea Arlico Pharm, consisting of sacubitril and valsartan. It is designed for the treatment of circulatory system conditions, primarily chronic heart failure and hypertension. As an Angiotensin Receptor-Neprilysin Inhibitor (ARNI), the drug employs a dual mechanism: sacubitril inhibits the enzyme neprilysin to increase levels of natriuretic peptides, while valsartan acts as an angiotensin II receptor antagonist to block the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. This combined action promotes vasodilation, reduces blood pressure, and prevents adverse cardiac remodeling. ALC-2217 has been evaluated in bioequivalence trials in South Korea to support its approval as a generic alternative to the reference product, Entresto.
