Sagopilone + cisplatin is an investigational combination regimen consisting of **sagopilone**, a fully synthetic epothilone microtubule stabilizer, and **cisplatin**, a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent. Sagopilone binds to and stabilizes microtubules, disrupting mitosis and inducing apoptosis, and is not recognized by common multidrug resistance mechanisms. Cisplatin forms DNA adducts, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. This combination has been studied in early-phase clinical trials primarily for the first-line treatment of metastatic small-cell lung cancer (SCLC), showing preliminary efficacy and an acceptable safety profile. Major dose-limiting toxicity is peripheral neuropathy. Sagopilone was developed by Bayer Schering Pharma and cisplatin is a standard generic agent in oncology[1][3][5][8].
