Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SAL003 + atorvastatin is a combination therapy being developed by Shenzhen Salubris Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. SAL003 is a recombinant fully human monoclonal antibody that targets proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9), a protein that regulates the number of LDL receptors on the liver surface. By inhibiting PCSK9, SAL003 prevents the degradation of LDL receptors, thereby increasing the clearance of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) from the blood. Atorvastatin is a small molecule statin that inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in hepatic cholesterol synthesis. The combination therapy is designed to provide synergistic lipid-lowering effects in patients who require intensive therapy or have not achieved target LDL-C levels with statin monotherapy alone. It is currently in Phase 2 clinical development.
