Salbutamol + sodium cromoglycate is a fixed-dose combination of two inhaled drugs used primarily for the management of moderate-to-severe asthma, especially in children. Salbutamol (also known as albuterol) is a selective beta-2-adrenoreceptor agonist that acts as a bronchodilator, providing rapid relief from bronchospasm by relaxing airway smooth muscle. Sodium cromoglycate (also known as cromolyn sodium) is a mast cell stabilizer that prevents the release of inflammatory mediators from sensitized mast cells, thereby reducing airway inflammation and hyperresponsiveness. The combination has been shown to provide better control of asthma symptoms than either agent alone and is generally well tolerated with few adverse effects[1][4]. It is typically administered via nebulization.
