Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Salactol is a topical keratolytic treatment formulated as a paint or gel, primarily used for the removal of warts, verrucas, corns, and calluses. It is a combination product containing salicylic acid (16.7% w/w) and lactic acid (16.7% w/w) in a collodion base. Salicylic acid works by softening the keratin in the skin, allowing for the mechanical removal of the affected tissue, while lactic acid acts to reduce the pH and enhance the keratolytic effect. The product is developed by Diomed Developments and marketed by Dermal Laboratories.
