saline + autologous plasma

Saline + autologous plasma is a therapeutic ophthalmic preparation used for the treatment of severe and recalcitrant dry eye disease. The formulation consists of plasma derived from the patient's own peripheral blood, which is typically diluted with sterile saline to concentrations such as 20% or 50%. This autologous biologic contains a concentrated array of essential components found in natural tears, including growth factors (such as EGF and TGF-β), fibronectin, vitamins, and immunoglobulins. These factors facilitate corneal epithelial wound healing, provide anti-inflammatory effects, and maintain the integrity of the ocular surface. By using the patient's own blood, the risk of immunological reactions or transmission of infectious diseases is minimized.
