The strategy typically involves an initial intramuscular dose of cIPV to establish systemic immunity against all three poliovirus serotypes (1, 2, and 3) without the risk of vaccine-associated paralytic polio (VAPP), followed by oral doses of bOPV to enhance mucosal immunity against types 1 and 3. This approach aligns with the World Health Organization's Global Polio Eradication Initiative strategy to phase out trivalent oral vaccines and mitigate the risk of vaccine-derived polioviruses.
