Overview
Samatasvir + ritonavir is an investigational oral combination regimen designed for the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. **Samatasvir** (IDX719) is a potent NS5A inhibitor, targeting the NS5A replication complex protein of HCV to disrupt viral RNA replication and virion assembly. **Ritonavir** acts as a pharmacokinetic enhancer and HIV-1 protease inhibitor; in HCV therapy, it is used to boost the plasma levels of coadministered direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) by inhibiting CYP3A-mediated metabolism, thereby increasing efficacy of other agents in the regimen. The combination is being evaluated in clinical trials for chronic HCV treatment, often alongside other DAAs such as simeprevir or TMC647055.
