Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sanfu herbal patch + moxibustion is a combination therapy developed by the Hubei Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center of Preventive Treatment by Acupuncture and Moxibust for the treatment of persistent allergic rhinitis. The therapy involves the application of a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal patch containing *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huang Qi), *Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata* (Fu Zi), *Rhizoma Corydalis* (Yan Hu Suo), *Herba Asari* (Xi Xin), *Semen Sinapis Albae* (Bai Jie Zi), and *Cortex Cinnamomi* (Rou Gui) to specific acupoints. This application is preceded by moxibustion, a thermal therapy using burning moxa to stimulate acupoints. Traditionally performed during the Sanfu period (the hottest days of the lunar calendar), the treatment follows the TCM principle of treating winter diseases in summer. The combination is intended to modulate the immune system, regulate the Th1/Th2 balance, and reduce allergic inflammation to provide long-term relief from rhinitis symptoms.
