Overview

A combination therapy of **saracatinib (AZD0530)**, a potent, selective, orally available Src and Abl kinase inhibitor, and **carboplatin**, a platinum-based chemotherapeutic cytotoxic agent. Saracatinib targets non-receptor tyrosine kinase c-Src and Bcr-Abl, blocking pathways involved in tumor cell migration, invasion, and potentially chemoresistance, while carboplatin crosslinks DNA to cause cell death in rapidly dividing tumor cells. The combination has been studied primarily in advanced solid tumors, especially ovarian cancer, in both preclinical and clinical (phase I/II) settings, aiming to improve efficacy and circumvent resistance to platinum-based chemotherapy. The combination shows acceptable toxicity and feasibility in early-phase clinical trials, but no evidence for regulatory approval to date[1][2][3][4][5][6][7].
