Saroglitazar + myristic acid is a novel fixed-dose combination therapy under development for the treatment of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), a rare and serious kidney disease. This combination leverages the dual peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) alpha and gamma agonist properties of saroglitazar, which modulate lipid metabolism, inflammation, and fibrosis. Myristic acid contributes calcineurin-inhibiting effects, providing additional anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory activity. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that this combination significantly reduces proteinuria and urinary albumin to creatinine ratio (UACR), improves kidney pathology by reducing glomerular sclerosis and tubular ectasia, and exerts synergistic therapeutic effects targeting inflammation, fibrosis, and disease progression in FSGS animal models[2][1]. The drug is being developed using AI-driven approaches to identify synergistic mechanisms for complex diseases.
