Satraplatin + Docetaxel

Satraplatin + docetaxel is an investigational combination therapy for cancer. Satraplatin is an oral platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that acts as a DNA antagonist by forming DNA adducts and crosslinks, leading to inhibition of DNA replication and transcription and ultimately inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. Its unique structure allows it to overcome some resistance mechanisms seen with other platinum drugs[5][6]. Docetaxel is a semisynthetic taxane antineoplastic agent that promotes microtubule assembly and stabilizes them against depolymerization, resulting in cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase and induction of apoptosis through bcl-2 phosphorylation[4][8]. The combination has been studied primarily in prostate cancer (notably metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer), but also shows activity against other solid tumors such as breast and lung cancers[5].
